The pod is in fact a hand crafted paper-seed pod. The seed will reveal itself when the pod is soaked in water, planted in soil and cared for like any seedling. It would be best if the soil is kept moist, warm and near sunlight. As the paper aids in germination, it will slowly decompose leaving the plant to grow.
As a nurturer of a pod, it would be wonderful if you could share the story of how you discovered or acquired the pod. It would be excellent if you were so curious, that you would also share comments on the progress it makes. Thank you!
Whatever variety of pod has landed in your hands, it will be either an edible herb or flower, as the pods are all about food and location in relation to the calorie consumer.
All seeds were sourced from a farm on Salt Spring Island, that is also the core behind The Seed and Plant Sanctuary of Canada, a non-profit concerned with the preservation of seed and gene diversity. Salt Spring Seeds is dedicated to ‘safe and sustainable agriculture’, so all of the seed is of non-commercial variety and not contaminated with genetically modified organisms. for more about the Seed Sanctuary, and this topic, visit the sidebar for a selection of links!

My pod came to me in Calgary by mail. Is there anything more beautiful and mysterious than a seed?
The ground is frozen stiff here in cow-town but when things finally warm up I’ll be sure to get my pod into the soil. I think the area outside my bedroom window would be a nice spot.
Thank you for the gift!
Comment by Ash April 3, 2009 @ 8:52 amRight now my pod and Anick’s one are in a little glass of water, life is only starting! I reallly like all the concept behind the creation of those pods and the fact that the process keep continuing through others and through the plants growing and being edible.
